Save on One Way Airfare by Buying Round Trip

Save on One Way Airfare by Buying Round Trip

If you're planning a one way flight and want to save on airfare, you should always check the price on a round-trip flight before booking. For some strange reason, one way flight itineraries usually cost more than round-trip flight itineraries.

For example, I just checked a flight from Houston to Chicago. The round trip airfare was a pretty good deal on Kayak at $252 but the one-way airfare was well over $700! The price difference is even more noticeable on international flights. On a flight itinerary from Houston to Tokyo, the round trip airfare was $670 but a one-way $1320.

Remember that buying the round trip ticket doesn't obligate you to return and on the scheduled return date. You can just toss the unused ticket in the trashcan and stay indefinitely!
