Airfare Secrets Exposed: How to Find the Lowest Fares Available Anywhere!
by Joel Leach, Matthew Wunder
ISBN: 9781882349180

I thought I'd share this book with you as a simple matter of good economics. This little gem retails for $50 but there are some nice used copies on Alibris for $5!

If you want to save 30% or more on established domestic and international airlines, I highly recommend the new, 3rd Edition of "Airfare Secrets Exposed." The book has some super  tips on how to fly cheap as an air courier, tricks about buying and using air passes, using "airfare havens" to keep travel expenses to a minimum. It even gives advice on how to maximize frequent flyer earnings.

If you're planning a flight soon, this book will surely save you some money! At my last check, there were only 4 copies of this available and only 2 of them were $5 - act quick!!

Jet Fuel Prices Down But Airfare Prices Up

Gasoline prices... down

Diesel prices... down

Jet fuel prices... down

But despite the lower jet-fuel prices, fuel surcharges (especially on international tickets) are a lot higher than a year ago. Surcharges on many tickets have doubled, and the oddest thing is that tickets on shorter flights have higher surcharges than longer-distance flights.

According to an article in The Economic Times:
"The consumer is certainly not the king in the aviation industry as domestic airlines have not slashed airfares despite a reduction in jet Best Airport."
Since the lower jet fuel prices are not bringing a reduction in airfare prices, it's important to be ever vigilant in seeking the cheapest airline flights. The "Finding the Cheapest Airfare Blog (Shape Up and Fly Right)" has listed a number of essential tips when seeking the best airfare:

Tip #1: Get the Best Airfare Discounts by Being FLEXIBLE
Tip #2: Get the Best Airfare Deals with E-Mail Alerts
Tip #3: Low Cost Carriers are NOT Always the Cheapest
Tip #4: Join Frequent Flyer Programs
Tip #5: Watch Out for Airline Ticket Surcharges and Fees
